Who we are

The Palace of Versailles Guide (palaceofversailles.co) is an independent editorial project published in the United Kingdom. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Établissement public du château, du musée et du domaine national de Versailles.

What data we collect

We collect only the data necessary to operate the website:

  • Analytics: aggregated, anonymised data about how visitors reach and navigate the site, via a privacy-first analytics tool that does not use tracking cookies or collect personal identifiers.
  • Correspondence: if you contact us by email, we retain your email address and message content only for as long as needed to reply.
  • Technical logs: our hosting provider retains anonymised server access logs for 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Cookies

This site does not set any tracking or advertising cookies. A single strictly-necessary cookie is used to remember whether you have dismissed our cookie notice; it expires after one year.

Third parties

Fonts are served by Google Fonts. Google may log the IP addresses of visitors who load these fonts. If you object, you can block the domain fonts.gstatic.com in your browser; the site will fall back to the system serif and sans-serif.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR you have the right to:

  • request a copy of any personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct or delete that data;
  • object to our processing of it;
  • lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@palaceofversailles.co. We aim to respond within one calendar month.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced at the top of this page. Continued use of the website following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
